Found this in 1st thread of this site: "tracking the race"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It appears from the 1800 positions that Spindra has retired and is approaching Ft. Myers.... any confirmation of Spindra's situation?

My son, a crewmember on the Spindra, called and said they retired because of engine trouble and were towed back to port.

It was nice to know the tracker was there! When the high water bilge alarm went off with 3 feet of water in the aft bilge at 10 PM. Exhaust hose partially separted from water lift aft and that caused the flooding. Once the problem was found we were fine and the USCG Cutter Night Island was near by. Worst part was a 45 tow back to shore into 8-10 foot seas with no control on how to take the seas. Temporary repairs were made ashore and SPINDRA is back at her slip. Thanks for everyone's concern!
