Any word from Cynthia Woods? She seems to be suddenly parked and drifting slowly towards the coast.

Based on the currents out there at Cynthia Woods location I would
guess that the transponder is floating in the Gulf and heading to
the North. Speed of .4 knots is consistent with current speed.

I spoke to Jim Atchley and that was his opinion as well. Cynthia Woods did not call in at their scheduled time of 0800 this morning, so Coast Guard is sending a boat from Freeport to check it out.

Do they have a sat phone with them? Can someone with the number try calling them? Also, according to the dots, Anchor Management passed them around 4:00. Can someone contact them as well to see if they saw them? Thanks!

Kevin - any update from Jim? Do you know if the Coast Guard sent a boat out? Are they not answering their radio?

The boat track updated at 3:04 and it looks like they're headed directly at Freeport at .3 knots..

My cousin, Travis, is on the Cynthia Woods. My uncle says he has not been able to reach him and he has not heard from the Coast Guard. Any info would be appreciated!

No news yet. Hopefully the new update will help the CG home-in.

The Coast Guard sent out a 41 foot cutter but said the sea state exceeded the capability of hte boat. they sent out a Flacon jet from Corpus Christi but it had a bird strike and had to return. They have sent a second jet but we haven't heard back yet.

This is Travis Wright's mother. I spoke with Todd Gatlan of the USCG situation room at 4:15pm and he said there was a helo heading out to check on her. They were going to check out a few things, then if she didn't turn up they would start a search pattern.

Mom spoke to CG as well. They did say they have been having trouble getting through on the radios to all the boats. Something about the weather is making it hard to get a good radio connection. Haven't been able to get through to other boats to check if she's with the rest of the pack.

There ought to be a number of boats out there with sat phones who are checking in periodically. If anybody can get word to them on the sat phone the fleet may be able to reach each other on VHF to check for them.

Our son Ross is also on the Cynthia Woods.

Information please on the i-Boattrack transponder - Does it have its own battery or is it tied into the boat's power? Does the fact we're seeing a signal mean that it's still attached to the boat?

I understand A&M has another transponder on board that provides a position every twelve hours. Any update on that transponder's location?

The transponder has it's own battery and is supposed to be tied on deck usually to the life raft. It floats and could have simply been knocked overboard if it wasn't attached well.

The iboat transponder is battery powered, self-contained and very water resistant. They are the size of a small notebook.

One possibility is that the transponder was lost overboard and it is drifting. It can only transmit when it is face-up, so it could have flipped over in a wave and stopped transmitting. That would explain why it didn’t transmit for several hours today. It is transmitting now, so hopefully CG can find it.
