Might be fun to start a little predictions contest????? I've done the race 15+ times, but will be spending time with family this go around. Will be spending more time on watch (online) than perhaps I would have doing the race. Great to see such interest and techology involved this year. Sail North Fast and safe sailing to all involved.

The smart money is on Sociable sec 6. They got .1 knots everybody else is 0.0. Go team Sociable...hurry up the head is only good for 12 flushes.

I have done this race 12 times and found that predicting the winners is always a crapshoot. The fastest boats tend not to win the race due to handicaps. As for section placing, I have seen last place on the boat I was racing on and also a flag. It all depends on where on the lake you happen to be and if the wind currents are better than your competition. Watching the video with the 2 scenarios made me laugh because some things never change except for the weather on the lake. As for section leaders, I will take a flyer and pick Jeannine III (its your time guys) in Sec.1, Pendragon in Sec. 2 (lets go Brian), Heartbreaker in Sec. 3, Nitemare in GL70, and Windquest (they have Bill Hybels on board, unfair advantage). Safe race everyone and godspeed.

I'm watching and hoping for Cheap Thrills. Always a contender in the T-10 section. I crewed with Nancy's Dad for years in Texas. I know she has her father's knowledge and competitive spirit. Nancy is always is in or near the front most of the way up the lake. As said before, it comes down to the weather and winds and how you play them.

So here is for Nancy and the Cheap Thrills crew. Sail hard and be safe. Remembering your Dad.

My vote for the Cruising 2 Division is "Free At Last!" A father-sons (plus others) crew of terrific and fun-loving sailors!
Good luck "Free At Last!" :D

The race is on! I vote with Dan (prior post) for Cheap Thrill in the T10 section. My husband, Bill Moss, is crewing with them again this year (his 28th Mac) and they are always contenders. I sent them off in the rain this morning from Belmont. Here's to a safe race and a strong finish! Love and best wishes for a great race to Nancy, Tim, Barry, Dan, Lizzie and - especially - Bill! Here's something to watch: A fun little rivalry just might exist between Whisper and Measure for Measure in Section 8... My money is on Whisper! Just try and catch 'em, Measure! Are you guys shrimpin' yet? heheheh

Watch out for Tallgrass, a Beneteau 10R, in Section 6. They finished 8th overall in 2007, 3rd in their section.

Go Dad!!

Here are a couple of mine......
If winds stay from the NW and they close-reach up the lake, count on Twister in Section 1. They have the best A-sail in the fleet. Sailinalong
