My husband is old, older than an OLD GOAT! After racing in this race for 33 years, Spanker won in its section for the first time last year. It was time to retire. But he still has the bug. Here is my prediction, Spanker, B-something 39, will finish. All will be safe and happy, and next year he is staying home or flying me up to the Island so I can see what it is all about. I do sort of miss the days where 1000 guys would stand in line for the one pay phone to let family know they were safe and sound.

Let's hear it for the old goats!

I agree with you, Dan. Tim and Nancy have years of experience and a great crew. I am a little biased, as my husband, Dan, is crewing.

Go Cheap Thrill!

Cheap Thrill Looking Good!

Postby Pattymoss » Sun Jul 20, 2008 7:50 am

The T10 section is always very competitive and fun to follow. Cheap Thrill is looking good this morning, Dan and Sailing Widdow (aka Angela) ! Let's all keep cheering them on and bring home a victory! Patty

What a nice surprise this morning when I woke to see Cheap Thrills moved up in the T10 fleet. Patty I know Nancy knows how to use light air. I've sailed hundreds of races with her Dad in Dallas and he knew how to run a boat with no air. Now it's up to the being in the right place at the right time and covering the tacts. This is fun to watch. Dan from Kissimmee FL.

I was glad to learn about Nancy's (Cheap Thrill) mastery of sailing in light air, because that's all they're getting right now. I agree with Sailing Widdow that this boat has a great chance! (I am also biased since my son (and her husband) Dan is crewing.
Let's hope that all boats have a safe journey and that Cheap Thrill brings home a T-10 win.

Section 4

I will go with Mrs. Jones in Section 4. She is having a very successful summer. Ran away with the NOOD- Mumm 36 class in Chicago. I sailed with her for the Queen's Cup and we had a great sail, finishing in 3rd.

Good crew with a skipper that is an "Old Goat" with 33 MAC's..... and he is only 46!!! Yes, he sailed his first MAC at 13 with his Dad and has not missed a MAC since.

Just as Hazman mentioned yesterday, watch out for Pronto II. Now 4:20 Sunday and in front of the J105 section. Go Kelly, you must have got out and pushed last night. Keep up the good work.

Have no clue as to predicting a winner . . . but in my book (and I am biased) we're rootin' for Pororoca in the GL-70 section! :D

My old goat is still in the running, if this young goat can read the electronic maps.... I keep worrying that there is something wrong with the transponder, but, then again, I'm Irish. Come On Spanker, Ben. 40.7!
