colder weather

This is Mark Wagner, the Education Director from the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque, Iowa. I have been thinking about you since your visit to our museum, Robert, and hoping you are making good progress in your travels down the river. It is getting colder in the Midwest and the leaf color has already peaked in Dubuque. I hope you keep making good progress so that you can catch up to some comfortable weather with not too much wind coming up river.

This is Judy Park, Robert's sister. Thank you so much for your interest.
The last few days have been tough. Strong headwinds and freezing nights, but he doesn't slow down. The beautiful scenery and interesting sights seem to feed his energy.

That leads me to a question. He spotted what appeared to be a very old, sunken vessel near Buffalo, IA ( or 41.46 N / 90.65 W). He said it had an iron frame with large thick planks. It was in shallow enough water for him to touch it. He asked me to play detective - but so far no luck.

Robert wanted you to know that he is prepared for temperatures down to 20 degrees and rain. He is carrying a survival bag in case he turns over. As his wife would testify - he spends an inordinate amount of time and energy preparing for his adventures.

Today, 10-22 he had to accept the fact that paddling was not possible. He had wind gusts 20-25 mph this morning and 25 to 30 mph this afternoon.
