finish times are being updated close to real time

Beginning Friday June 16, the Newport to Bermuda Race course is one of the most interesting and challenging ocean courses anywhere and depending on weather conditions the race can be won by big boats, small boats or boats in the middle of the fleet.

finish times are being updated close to real time

Hi, folks:

Just a heads-up that the RC will be entering finish times WITHOUT the 8h delay. It's a manual process, but it will be done ASAP w/ relation to the real finish time. The leaderboard does NOT contain anything more than 8h reports but it IS updated every 2 hours. So that means that you could see more finishes added to the leaderboard but still have to wait to see new 8h positions anywhere on iboattrack.

Confused yet?

Well, at least you can be happy that the finishes will be coming through w/o the delay.

Thanks for the update. It's hard when we're so used to the internet providing instanteous information to have to wait.

Thanks to the trackers, the iboattrack folks and the race committee for providing the online view. Our inpatience shows how we are totally engaged as "viewers." It's been fun - although there's been a lot of lost "real job" productivity among us

Googolplex Update???

Postby momchef » Tue Jun 20, 2006 9:40 pm

The only posting for Googolplex seems to be the 10 am posting. Has there been a more recent position?

Thanks.

I just checked (6:13am) and it is still only showing three boats as finished... the leader board in which you said would be updated every two hours vs. real-time has many as finished... am I missing something? Is there something I am not seeing? Do you have a link to show me what you mean? Thanks!

It takes at most 2h from the time that the RC enters in finish times for it to show up on the leaderboard as opposed to the 8h you've been seeing during the race for positions. So if there are no finishes or the RC doesn't enter them, then the leaderboard won't show anything new. I hope that helps. Here are the official results which are likely to be updated more frequently, https://app1.regatta-manager.com/Regatta/nbr.html.

Updates???

Postby momchef » Wed Jun 21, 2006 8:18 am

Does anyone know when they will start updating? There are several boats that have finished but that's not on the Regatta sheets or on iboat's Leader Board or maps.

Thanks,
C

so wonderful!!!!

How unreal it must be to see all of those boats coming in... Thanks for keeping us updated... You are correct- at least I can speak for myself. I am one of the "non- sailors" and have absolutely NO experience in any of this... Tracking has been frustrating, HOWEVER... I am SO happy that we had the ability AT ALL during this race.. .It's been FUN to watch and made me want to be a part of it even more!!!
Thanks for everything!

Ratings

Postby mid-dad » Wed Jun 21, 2006 11:02 am

Who can explain why the rating a boat arrived at Bermuda with is different than the rating the same boat departed Newport with?? Thanks anyone.

VB,

Wow, what a process. Sounds like you all have your hands full but those of us without the luxury of being there very much appreciate all of your efforts. Please pass on a sincere thanks to everybody. :)
