leaderboard & finish times

On Friday, June 19, at approximately 1250 EDT, 200 competitors will start to make their way from Newport, RI to Bermuda. This is a 635nm race that has been run for over 100 years. Feel free to register and cheer on your favorite boat!

leaderboard & finish times

I thought I'd post this announcement before questions started popping up.

The RC has a site where they can enter in withdrawal and finish times. The trackers will report positions and they'll show up on iBoattrack until they enter in that info. So if no finish times are entered in for a while, weird things happen to the LB since everybody's distance to finish becomes similar and very small. In other words, everybody will be < 1nm from the finish, so the LB doesn't know how to rank that realistically.

Just a friendly heads-up! ;)

Thanks for the update. Will you post finishers on iboat?

That part is in the race comm.'s hands. We have given them a site to upload the finish times. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

The problem with the finish times that are being posted on the race website is that they provide only the time, not the date. It appears that the intention is for the date to be provided, but the formatting has each entrant as finishing on 06/2 (which literally seems to mean June 2nd, but I also suspect it is supposed to mean June 23 or 24 or...)

Of course, it would also be neat to know how many boats have finished without having to go thru the results, particularly since there seems to be a lag in the results being updated.
