I'm still getting used to this site. Just found out about it yesterday. Tracking the Saralysia out of Port Sanilac.

Catman,
We are friends of Bruce's from Ann Arbor, and also tracking Nice Pair. I heard about this site and have already enjoyed tracking the class starts and the early part of the race. I am at our cottage at the tip of the thumb, and there have been a number of squalls that passed through here. Not the same as racing, but maybe the next best thing. I have a friend from the UK I have been tracking on a round the world cruise, although the position reporting and postings are sometimes weeks apart. The real time data is interesting, although I can see why some skippers might be uneasy with their competitors ability to track them.

Mornin' Catman!
I am tracking Nice Pair, Bruce, Gary, et al...also Jan & Meade Gougeon/Adagio
(troubling that I am unable to lock in boats to search....have to re-enter
each time in Boat Mapper....oh well, anything is better than nothing.)

Also looking at whole fleet....looks like the doldroms out there.
3-5k is not good! I am just south of Mac City....looks like some T-storms are headed my way
this morning, hoping they don't break apart crossing over to Lake Huron.

Have great stories sailing with Bruce AND Gary....

Gretchen, this is Blain, Becky is road goddess, was not able to be on this trip due to dads 80 birthday party, sailing is fun but family is important. Tried to call but could not get thru to you. Fun to watch this but jonesin' bad to be on the race.

Nice battle going on between Earth Voyager and Windquest. They're sticking to each other like glue. It looks like Windquest has over a knot advantage on Earth Voyager.

I was reading the boat details where Earth Voyager set the speed record 14 HOURS!!!! They must've been doing 20 knots all the way.

Riding Earth Voyager is amazingly surreal...definitely one of the highlights of my life. We left the GH dock one August night, the best night for shooting stars, heading for Milwaukee...and wow did we witness a show. It was spectacular. What is most amazing about EV is that when she is sailing, all you hear is the wind on the sails and the water rushing over the hulls...throw in a few hundred shooting stars and oh what a night! Memorable beyond words. Sure makes a person feel one with nature.

That must've been around Aug 12. That's the peak for the annual Perseids meteor shower. It has an average hourly rate of about 65. One year I seen three simultaneously.

I saw one that while dropping down to the horizon, it split in two on its way down, forming that almighty Mercedes symbol. But the best one I ever saw was on the Mill's Race, shooting through the sky and landing in the bucket of the big dipper. Very cool stuff.

Earth Traveler is the first multihull boat in with
elapsed time: 35:41:46
corrected time: 60:34:34

However, Adagio looks like its the next multi to cross the finish line. Their handicap is only 1.11.

So if they cross with elapsed time less than 54:16 Adagio take first place away from Earth Traveler. Based on how its looking based on the last GPS at 0207, they have 23:16 to cover 32nm. Furthermore, depending on how the other boats do, Earth Traveler might not even have a podium finish.

It looks like Adagio will be in next followed by Nice Pair. Does anyone know about the timing between these two and what the result may be?
