We would like to thank all of the individual race committee chairpeople, race participants, and the public audience for using our service during the 2008 race year. We had a lot of fun working these races and look forward to additional future years in 2009 and 2010. At Horizon Marine's iBoattrack service, we strive to continue to perform our necessary research to further develop our systems and therefore enhance our service to all clients and public end-users. Our goal is to provide a comfortable, simple tracking system for not only offshore sailing events, but for individual cruising boats and industrial marine assets.
Please feel free to click any of the links on the right hand side of this page to view past races tracked and mapped. These races will remain on our site indefinitely for post-race analysis and review.
History of iBoattrack:
As part of Horizon Marine's continuous research
and development program, we began extending our satellite communication interface by tracking a handful of boats during the Marion to Bermuda Race in 1999, 2001, and 2003. In 2005, iBoattrack launched
a pilot program that provided offshore yacht race tracking for every
competitor in five different races.
The 2005 pilot project proved to be successful
and fun. We continued our race tracking service through 2006 and successfully tracked and mapped 265 boats in the Centennial Newport to Bermuda Race.
In 2007, we continued our tracking and mapping service and aquired contracts for a few new races including the Charleston to Bermuda Race and the Long Beach to Cabo San Lucas Race.
In 2008, we pushed our system to a new frontier and tracked and mapped both the Newport to Bermuda Race and the 100th Race to Mackinac hosting 198 and 435 boats, respectively. This season turned out to be a challenging, yet rewarding experience and look forward to continuing our service to new and existing clients.
